The metal zipper teeth are large and do not look like steel; they%26#039;re dull, not shiny, and more silvery than steel is.
The material around them is a twill cloth, not plastic or nylon, so the remedy for the zipper can%26#039;t be able to soak through and get on clothes packed inside.
The suitcases are of heavy, flexible vinyl or something like it.
I%26#039;d like a solution that doesn%26#039;t create a build-up of gunk that eventually makes the problem worse.
The luggage is a gift gotten at a yard sale. I really need luggage, but I haven%26#039;t even been able to get it open (I don%26#039;t even know how many smaller suitcases are stored inside the large one; I think there are two).
Thank you all.
What%26#039;s the best way to get stuck metal luggage zippers unstuck?
I agree WD40 should work
Reply:try some WD 40 on it
Reply:Get a bar of (dry) soap and rub it on the zipper.
Problem solved!
Reply:Well According to Me A Candle WAX is the best thing to use for that......Get a Candle and Just Rub it on the Zipper... it will also protect it from the Rust and help it to run Smoothly...
Reply:While WD40 may work, it really depends upon why the zipper is stuck.
If it has been exposed to salt area, the zipper may have corroded. Spraying the zipper with a mild acid such as vinegar may loosen the corrosion.
Reply:honestly, if there is a way to cut the zipper where it is stuck, that%26#039;s your best bet.
