What does the "Y K K" sign on almost all zippers mean?

I always wondered what it means but never really asked anybody.

What does the "Y K K" sign on almost all zippers mean?
Believe it or not, I read this in Cosmo Girl! once. It's the name of the Japanese company that makes all of the zippers that are sent manufacturers to put on their clothing.
Reply:it does not mean nothing it is just what type zipper that company uses that's all.
Reply:YKK is the brand name of the zippers that came into the US from the UK in the 1960's

ADDED:

it stands for Yoshida Kogyo K.K.
Reply:YKK was founded in Japan as a zipper manufacturing company in 1934 by Tadao (pronounced in English as Tah-dah-o) Yoshida. In the early years, Mr. Yoshida's company carried his name; it was called Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha--or "YKK" for short. (That long Japanese name translates roughly into English as "Yoshida Company Limited.") Over the years, the letters "YKK" were stamped onto the zippers' pull tabs, and thus YKK became known as the Company's trademark
Reply:I dont know

~Sorry:)
Reply:Get a life !
Reply:i'm guessin it's the brand name of the zipper maker?
Reply:The YKK Group (YKKグループ, Waikeikei Gurūpu?) is a Japanese group of manufacturing companies. As the world's largest zipper manufacturer, YKK Group is most famous for making zippers. However it also manufactures other fastening products, architectural products, and industrial machinery.

YKK claims to be the first zipper company to promote environmental protection measures. YKK developed a line of environmentally friendly zippers, following the company's philosophy "The Cycle of Goodness" which means that one prospers when the person renders benefit to others.

YKK was founded in 1934 by Tadao Yoshida in Nihonbashi, Tokyo. Originally known as Sanesu Shōkai (サンエス商会, Sanesu Shōkai?), it was renamed Yoshida Kōgyō-sho (吉田工業所, Yoshida Kōgyō-sho?) in 1938, Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushiki-kaisha (吉田工業株式会社, Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushiki-kaisha?) in 1945, and finally YKK in 1994. The name YKK was first registered as a trademark in 1946. The organization operates more than 123 affiliated companies in more than 70 countries representing some 270 plants and offices with some 37,000 employees.

YKK's first US office opened in New York City in 1960 and now is the country's top supplier of zippers and other fastening devices such as snaps and buttons.

Today, the Macon, Georgia plant produces 1,500 styles of zippers in 427 standard colors for use on clothing and other items, such as tents or boat covers.
