Would it be trendy to sew fifty zippers into my black skirt?

It wouldn't be trendy, but it would definitely be unique -- which I think is ten times better. Trendy is overrated; why would you want to wear something that hundreds of other girls are wearing? Following trends too closely isn't cool, it just shows a total lack of imagination. What is cool is coming up with your own style that incorporates a couple of trends, but isn't a complete copycat look.





Real style is all about wearing things that look good on you. Do not make the mistake of becoming a fashion clone.





I think the zippers would be very interesting. Depending on how you style it and what you wear with it, you could rock a lot of different looks. Like one of the answerers mentioned, you could try using different colored zippers. Or you might want to use black zippers for a more subtle effect. Don't forget that there's a lot of potential in just the arrangement of the zippers. You could line them up or stack them neatly, or you could do alternating rows (kind of like a brick wall type of arrangement). Or if you use really short zippers, you could arrange them in starburst formations or some other shapes.





Use your imagination and you'll be sure to come up with something fun and unique.

Well it depends on where you live on what type of skirt you're sewing. In San Francisco trendy is whatever you make it. However, if you are using that many zippers perhaps stitching them vertically and parallel onto an A line skirt (narrow at the waist, wider at the thighs and knees) would be cute. Imagine the entire edge of the skirt being a one row of zippers and then above that row, stitching another row of (smaller?) zippers. You would create a ruffled edge of zippers.





The skirt material would have to be fairly thick because the metal edge is going to weight it down. I
Reply:well me and my best friend once put like 100 safety pins to a shirt and i looked pretty cool, best thing no one else had the same shirt , trendy I don't think that trend will pick up but very original.





By the way if it gets hot you can just open up a zipper :)
Reply:I think it will be very trendy if all have different co lours ,be confident and go for it if u hv seen the cat walk they what there gut feeling and some designs came out real good so u have my full support go for it and post me a pic.
