Tall boots with or without zippers?

Which kind of tall English riding boots do you prefer, with zippers or without? I would think with zippers would be nice, but has anyone had problems with the zipper?

Tall boots with or without zippers?
WITH!!!!! OMG WITH ZIPPERS!!!!!!!

I learned this when I thought I%26#039;d save money and just get the slip ons...worst boot mistake of my life...after a few near death experiences trying to get them off (one friend almost ran head first into a pole...we laughed afterward, but it could have been really bad!), I had zippers installed. However, since they were done seperately, they looked pretty bad and didn%26#039;t last as long.

Slip ons:

--Sometimes have to wear plastic bags to help slide foot

--have a more complicated procedure to find a good fit (has to fit to calf, while still giving room for slidage)

--Don%26#039;t make a big difference in appearance

--Often need other persons handy for removal (the technique: friend holds boot between legs, facing same direction as you, and you push on that friend%26#039;s butt to slide out of boot)

Zips:

--basically eliminates many of the problems above

--need to have strong zippers. Metal, not plastic.

Get the zipper.
Reply:with. defiantly. they are so much easier to get out. i have dublins and they are amazing. i have never had a zipper issue.
Reply:If I picked I%26#039;d say a paddock boot and then some half chaps (paddock boot with zipper) But no I have western boots since I ride western (I need to clean them BIG time)
Reply:With- I%26#039;ve had both.
Reply:I have not had problems with my zipper before, but it is better that they have an elastic insert, (that cannot be seen) so it is easier to zip them up. Tall boots without zippers can be a pain! This girl had them, and it took 3 people to pull them off! Plus, you would need to buy boot pulls, and that would cost extra money.
Reply:I have costum made boots with zippers, and I absolutely love them! they are great because they can come off so easily, and they don%26#039;t pinch at all. but i have never worn regular zipper boots so I don%26#039;t know how they far against mine
Reply:My feild boots do not have zippers , I Think zippers would be nice though the only downside would be getting the zipper caught at a show or something.
Reply:I prefer zippers, especially when your boots get a little tight. But problems with zippers is that they can pop (have had it happen lol) or break.
Reply:Personally I have short boots and half chaps at the moment but if I was looking at buying myself a present I%26#039;d get a pair of mountain horse high riders with the zips at the back - my daughter has some and has given them some serious hammer at home and at college for the last 12 months- they still look great.
Reply:Well i can%26#039;t wear tall boots (im too short!) but i know a lot of people who do not like the zipper because it gets stuck and they find the kind with out the zipper fits more snug and its just more comfortable to them.
Reply:i wouldnt use the zipper
Reply:I bought real expensive hunt boots, and i got the zippers that go all the way down to the heel, think they%26#039;d be easier to get on and off, they BUSTED the first show! so i suggest getting them without zippers and get some boot pulls!
Reply:With or without, both have their good points...I would prefer inserts sewn in that stretch (on the inside, cannot be seen from the outside) to fit....zippers can get stuck. You can buy your boots to fit, then take them to the cobbler and have measurements taken and inserts added to make them fit perfectly and comfortably.
Reply:Definitely get the zipper! When I rode huntseat it was the best choice I ever made apparel wise.
